وَٱلسَّمَآءِ ذَاتِ ٱلۡبُرُوجِ 1
Wassamaaa'i zaatil burooj
By the sky with the constellations
وَٱلۡيَوۡمِ ٱلۡمَوۡعُودِ 2
Wal yawmil maw'ood
And by the Promised Day
وَشَاهِدࣲ وَمَشۡهُودࣲ 3
Wa shaahidinw wa mashhood
And by the witness and the witnessed
قُتِلَ أَصۡحَٰبُ ٱلۡأُخۡدُودِ 4
Qutila as haabul ukhdood
Destroyed were the People of the Trench
ٱلنَّارِ ذَاتِ ٱلۡوَقُودِ 5
Annaari zaatil waqood
The fire supplied with fuel
إِذۡ هُمۡ عَلَيۡهَا قُعُودࣱ 6
Iz hum 'alaihaa qu'ood
While they sat around it
وَهُمۡ عَلَىٰ مَا يَفۡعَلُونَ بِٱلۡمُؤۡمِنِينَ شُهُودࣱ 7
Wa hum 'alaa maa yaf'aloona bilmu 'mineena shuhood
And were witnessing what they did to the believers
وَمَا نَقَمُواْ مِنۡهُمۡ إِلَّآ أَن يُؤۡمِنُواْ بِٱللَّهِ ٱلۡعَزِيزِ ٱلۡحَمِيدِ 8
Wa maa naqamoo minhum illaaa aiyu'minoo billaahil 'azeezil Hameed
They begrudged them only because they believed in God the Almighty, the Praiseworthy
ٱلَّذِي لَهُۥ مُلۡكُ ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَٱلۡأَرۡضِۚ وَٱللَّهُ عَلَىٰ كُلِّ شَيۡءࣲ شَهِيدٌ 9
Allazee lahoo mulkus samaawaati wal ard; wallaahu 'alaa kulli shai 'in Shaheed
To Whom belongs the sovereignty of the heavens and the earth. God is witness over everything
إِنَّ ٱلَّذِينَ فَتَنُواْ ٱلۡمُؤۡمِنِينَ وَٱلۡمُؤۡمِنَٰتِ ثُمَّ لَمۡ يَتُوبُواْ فَلَهُمۡ عَذَابُ جَهَنَّمَ وَلَهُمۡ عَذَابُ ٱلۡحَرِيقِ 10
Innal lazeena fatanul mu'mineena wal mu'minaati summa lam yatooboo falahum 'azaabu Jahannama wa lahum 'azaabul hareeq
Those who tempt the believers, men and women, then do not repent; for them is the punishment of Hell; for them is the punishment of Burning
إِنَّ ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُواْ وَعَمِلُواْ ٱلصَّٰلِحَٰتِ لَهُمۡ جَنَّٰتࣱ تَجۡرِي مِن تَحۡتِهَا ٱلۡأَنۡهَٰرُۚ ذَٰلِكَ ٱلۡفَوۡزُ ٱلۡكَبِيرُ 11
Innal lazeena aamanoo wa 'amilus saalihaati lahum Jannaatun tajree min tahtihal anhaar; zaalikal fawzul kabeer
Those who believe and do righteous deeds will have Gardens beneath which rivers flow. That is the great triumph
إِنَّ بَطۡشَ رَبِّكَ لَشَدِيدٌ 12
Inna batsha Rabbika lashadeed
The onslaught of your Lord is severe
إِنَّهُۥ هُوَ يُبۡدِئُ وَيُعِيدُ 13
Innahoo Huwa yubdi'u wa yu'eed
It is He who begins and repeats
وَهُوَ ٱلۡغَفُورُ ٱلۡوَدُودُ 14
Wa Huwal Ghafoorul Wadood
And He is the Forgiving, the Loving
ذُو ٱلۡعَرۡشِ ٱلۡمَجِيدُ 15
Zul 'Arshil Majeed
Possessor of the Glorious Throne
فَعَّالࣱ لِّمَا يُرِيدُ 16
Fa' 'aalul limaa yureed
Doer of whatever He wills
هَلۡ أَتَىٰكَ حَدِيثُ ٱلۡجُنُودِ 17
Hal ataaka hadeesul junood
Has there come to you the story of the legions
فِرۡعَوۡنَ وَثَمُودَ 18
Fir'awna wa Samood
Of Pharaoh and Thamood
بَلِ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُواْ فِي تَكۡذِيبࣲ 19
Balil lazeena kafaroo fee takzeeb
In fact, those who disbelieve are in denial
وَٱللَّهُ مِن وَرَآئِهِم مُّحِيطُۢ 20
Wallaahu minw waraaa'ihim muheet
And God encloses them from beyond
بَلۡ هُوَ قُرۡءَانࣱ مَّجِيدࣱ 21
Bal huwa Quraanum Majeed
In fact, it is a Glorious Quran
فِي لَوۡحࣲ مَّحۡفُوظِۭ 22
Fee Lawhim Mahfooz

68ـ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى عَنْ سَلَمَةَ بْنِ الْخَطَّابِ عَنْ عَلِيِّ بْنِ حَسَّانَ عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ كَثِيرٍ عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ الله فِي قَوْلِهِ تَعَالَى وَشاهِدٍ وَمَشْهُودٍ قَالَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ وَأَمِيرُ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ (a.s )
68. Muhammad ibn Yahya has narrated from Salma ibn al-Khattab from Ali ibn Hassa’n from ‘Abd al-Rahman ibn Kathir from abu ‘Abdallah about the words of Allah, the Most High. “and by the witness (Muhammad) and that which is witnessed (the Day of Judgment),” (85:3) The Imam said, “They are The Holy Prophet and Amir al-Mu’minin Ali .”
