Ar Rahmaan

الرحْمنُ The Most Gracious

The Compassionate

عَلَّمَ ٱلۡقُرۡءَانَ 2

Allamal Quran

علم He taught

الْقُرْءان the Quran.

Has taught the Quran

55:3 Juz 27 * Page 531

خَلَقَ ٱلۡإِنسَٰنَ 3

Khalaqal insaan

خلق He created

الْإنسن [the] man.

He created man

55:4 Juz 27 * Page 531

عَلَّمَهُ ٱلۡبَيَانَ 4

Allamalhul bayaan

علمهُ He taught him

الْبيان [the] speech.

And taught him clear expression

55:5 Juz 27 * Page 531

ٱلشَّمۡسُ وَٱلۡقَمَرُ بِحُسۡبَانࣲ‏ 5

Ashshamsu walqamaru bihusbaan

الشمْسُ The sun

والْقمرُ and the moon

بحُسْبانٌ by (precise) calculation,

The sun and the moon move according to plan

55:6 Juz 27 * Page 531

Purification & Prayer

وَٱلنَّجۡمُ وَٱلشَّجَرُ يَسۡجُدَانِ 6

Wannajmu washshajaru yasjudan

والنجْمُ And the stars

والشجرُ and the trees

يسْجُدان both prostrate.

And the stars and the trees prostrate themselves

Justice & Testimony

وَٱلسَّمَآءَ رَفَعَهَا وَوَضَعَ ٱلۡمِيزَانَ 7

Wassamaaa'a rafa'ahaa wa wada'al Meezan

والسماء And the heaven,

رفعها He raised it

ووضع and He has set up

الْميزان the balance,

And the sky, He raised; and He set up the balance

55:8 Juz 27 * Page 531

Justice & Testimony

أَلَّا تَطۡغَوۡاْ فِي ٱلۡمِيزَانِ 8

Allaa tatghaw fil meezaan

ألا That not

تطْغوْا you may transgress

فى in

الْميزان the balance.

So do not transgress in the balance

55:9 Juz 27 * Page 531

Justice & Testimony

وَأَقِيمُواْ ٱلۡوَزۡنَ بِٱلۡقِسۡطِ وَلَا تُخۡسِرُواْ ٱلۡمِيزَانَ 9

Wa aqeemul wazna bilqisti wa laa tukhsirul meezaan

وأقيمُوا And establish

الْوزْن the weight

بالْقسْط in justice

ولا and (do) not

تُخْسرُوا make deficient

الْميزان the balance.

But maintain the weights with justice, and do not violate the balance

55:10 Juz 27 * Page 531

وَٱلۡأَرۡضَ وَضَعَهَا لِلۡأَنَامِ 10

Wal arda wada'ahaa lilanaame

والْأرْض And the earth,

وضعها He laid it

للْأنام for the creatures,

And the earth; He set up for the creatures

55:11 Juz 27 * Page 531

فِيهَا فَٰكِهَةࣱ وَٱلنَّخۡلُ ذَاتُ ٱلۡأَكۡمَامِ 11

Feehaa faakihatunw wan nakhlu zaatul akmaam

فيها Therein

فكهة (is) fruit

والنخْلُ and date-palms

ذاتُ having

الْأكْمام sheaths,

In it are fruits, and palms in clusters

55:12 Juz 27 * Page 531

وَٱلۡحَبُّ ذُو ٱلۡعَصۡفِ وَٱلرَّيۡحَانُ 12

Walhabbu zul 'asfi war Raihaanu

والْحبُ And the grain

ذُو having

الْعصْف husk

والريْحانُ and scented plants.

And grains in the blades, and fragrant plants

55:13 Juz 27 * Page 531

فَبِأَيِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ 13

Fabi ayyi aalaaa'i Rabbikumaa tukazzibaan

فبأى So which

ءالاء (of the) favors

ربكُما (of) your Lord

تُكذبان will you both deny?

So which of your Lord’s marvels will you deny

55:14 Juz 27 * Page 531

خَلَقَ ٱلۡإِنسَٰنَ مِن صَلۡصَٰلࣲ كَٱلۡفَخَّارِ 14

Khalaqal insaana min salsaalin kalfakhkhaari

خلق He created

الْإنسن the man

من from

صلْصلٌ clay

كالْفخار like the pottery.

He created man from hard clay, like bricks

55:15 Juz 27 * Page 531

وَخَلَقَ ٱلۡجَآنَّ مِن مَّارِجࣲ مِّن نَّارࣲ‏ 15

Wa khalaqal jaaan mim maarijim min naar

وخلق And He created

الْجان the jinn

من from

مارجٌ a smokeless flame

من of

نارٌ fire.

And created the jinn from a fusion of fire

55:16 Juz 27 * Page 531

فَبِأَيِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ 16

Fabi ayyi aalaaa'i Rabbikumaa tukazzibaan

فبأى So which

ءالاء (of the) favors

ربكُما (of) your Lord

تُكذبان will you both deny?

So which of your Lord’s marvels will you deny

55:17 Juz 27 * Page 532

رَبُّ ٱلۡمَشۡرِقَيۡنِ وَرَبُّ ٱلۡمَغۡرِبَيۡنِ 17

Rabbul mashriqayni wa Rabbul maghribayni

ربُ Lord

الْمشْرقيْن (of) the two Easts

وربُ and Lord

الْمغْربيْن (of) the two Wests.

Lord of the two Easts and Lord of the two Wests

55:18 Juz 27 * Page 532

فَبِأَيِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ 18

Fabi ayyi aalaaa'i Rabbikumaa tukazzibaan

فبأى So which

ءالاء (of the) favors

ربكُما (of) your Lord

تُكذبان will you both deny?

So which of your Lord’s marvels will you deny

55:19 Juz 27 * Page 532

مَرَجَ ٱلۡبَحۡرَيۡنِ يَلۡتَقِيَانِ 19

Marajal bahrayni yalta qiyaani

مرج He released

الْبحْريْن the two seas,

يلْتقيان meeting.

He merged the two seas, converging together

55:20 Juz 27 * Page 532

بَيۡنَهُمَا بَرۡزَخࣱ لَّا يَبۡغِيَانِ 20

Bainahumaa barzakhul laa yabghiyaan

بيْنهُما Between both of them

برْزخ (is) a barrier,

لا not

يبْغيان they transgress.

Between them is a barrier, which they do not overrun

55:21 Juz 27 * Page 532

فَبِأَيِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ 21

Fabi ayyi aalaaa'i Rabbikumaa tukazzibaan

فبأى So which

ءالاء (of the) favors

ربكُما (of) your Lord

تُكذبان will you both deny?

So which of your Lord’s marvels will you deny

55:22 Juz 27 * Page 532

يَخۡرُجُ مِنۡهُمَا ٱللُّؤۡلُؤُ وَٱلۡمَرۡجَانُ 22

Yakhruju minhumal lu 'lu u wal marjaanu

يخْرُجُ Come forth

منْهُما from both of them

اللُؤْلُؤُ the pearl

والْمرْجانُ and the coral.

From them emerge pearls and coral

55:23 Juz 27 * Page 532

فَبِأَيِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ 23

Fabi ayyi aalaaa'i Rabbikumaa tukazzibaan

فبأى So which

ءالاء (of the) favors

ربكُما (of) your Lord

تُكذبان will you both deny?

So which of your Lord’s marvels will you deny

55:24 Juz 27 * Page 532

وَلَهُ ٱلۡجَوَارِ ٱلۡمُنشَـَٔاتُ فِي ٱلۡبَحۡرِ كَٱلۡأَعۡلَٰمِ 24

Wa lahul jawaaril mun sha'aatu fil bahri kal a'laam

ولهُ And for Him

الْجوار (are) the ships

الْمُنشـاتُ elevated

فى in

الْبحْر the sea

كالْأعْلم like mountains.

His are the ships, raised above the sea like landmarks

55:25 Juz 27 * Page 532

فَبِأَيِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ 25

Fabi ayyi aalaaa'i Rabbikumaa tukazzibaan

فبأى So which

ءالاء (of the) favors

ربكُما (of) your Lord

تُكذبان will you both deny?

So which of your Lord’s marvels will you deny

Movement 2 * Verses 26–45 Section 2 of 3

The Inevitable Mortality of All Created Things

All on earth will perish, but the Countenance of your Lord remains in Majesty and Honor

55:26 Juz 27 * Page 532

كُلُّ مَنۡ عَلَيۡهَا فَانࣲ‏ 26

Kullu man 'alaihaa faan

كُلُ Everyone

منْ who

عليْها (is) on it

فانٌ (will) perish.

Everyone upon it is perishing

55:27 Juz 27 * Page 532

وَيَبۡقَىٰ وَجۡهُ رَبِّكَ ذُو ٱلۡجَلَٰلِ وَٱلۡإِكۡرَامِ 27

Wa yabqaa wajhu rabbika zul jalaali wal ikraam

ويبْقى But will remain

وجْهُ (the) Face

ربك (of) your Lord,

ذُو (the) Owner

الْجلل (of) Majesty

والْإكْرام and Honor.

But will remain the Presence of your Lord, Full of Majesty and Splendor

55:28 Juz 27 * Page 532

فَبِأَيِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ 28

Fabi ayyi aalaaa'i Rabbikumaa tukazzibaan

فبأى So which

ءالاء (of the) favors

ربكُما (of) your Lord

تُكذبان will you both deny?

So which of your Lord’s marvels will you deny

55:29 Juz 27 * Page 532

يَسۡـَٔلُهُۥ مَن فِي ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَٱلۡأَرۡضِۚ كُلَّ يَوۡمٍ هُوَ فِي شَأۡنࣲ‏ 29

Yas'aluhoo man fissamaawaati walard; kulla ywmin huwa fee shaan

يسْـلُهُ Asks Him

من whoever

فى (is) in

السموت the heavens

والْأرْض and the earth.

كُل Every

يوْمٌ day

هُو He

فى (is) in

شأْنٌ a matter.

Everyone in the heavens and the earth asks Him. Every day He is managing

55:30 Juz 27 * Page 532

فَبِأَيِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ 30

Fabi ayyi aalaaa'i Rabbikumaa tukazzibaan

فبأى So which

ءالاء (of the) favors

ربكُما (of) your Lord

تُكذبان will you both deny?

So which of your Lord’s marvels will you deny

55:31 Juz 27 * Page 532

سَنَفۡرُغُ لَكُمۡ أَيُّهَ ٱلثَّقَلَانِ 31

Sanafrughu lakum ayyuhas saqalaan

سنفْرُغُ Soon We will attend

لكُمْ to you,

أيُه O you

الثقلان two classes!

We will attend to you, O prominent two

55:32 Juz 27 * Page 532

فَبِأَيِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ 32

Fabi ayyi aalaaa'i Rabbikumaa tukazzibaan

فبأى So which

ءالاء (of the) favors

ربكُما (of) your Lord

تُكذبان will you both deny?

So which of your Lord’s marvels will you deny

55:33 Juz 27 * Page 532

Charity & Zakah

يَٰمَعۡشَرَ ٱلۡجِنِّ وَٱلۡإِنسِ إِنِ ٱسۡتَطَعۡتُمۡ أَن تَنفُذُواْ مِنۡ أَقۡطَارِ ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَٱلۡأَرۡضِ فَٱنفُذُواْۚ لَا تَنفُذُونَ إِلَّا بِسُلۡطَٰنࣲ‏ 33

Yaa ma'sharal jinni wal insi inis tata'tum an tanfuzoo min aqtaaris samaawaati wal ardi fanfuzoo; laa tanfuzoona illaa bisultaan

يمعْشر O assembly

الْجن (of) the jinn

والْإنس and the men!

إن If

اسْتطعْتُمْ you are able

أن to

تنفُذُوا pass beyond

منْ [of]

أقْطار (the) regions

السموت (of) the heavens

والْأرْض and the earth,

فانفُذُوا then pass.

لا Not

تنفُذُون you (can) pass

إلا except

بسُلْطنٌ by authority.

O society of jinn and humans! If you can pass through the bounds of the heavens and the earth, go ahead and pass. But you will not pass except with authorization

55:34 Juz 27 * Page 532

فَبِأَيِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ 34

Fabi ayyi aalaaa'i Rabbikumaa tukazzibaan

فبأى So which

ءالاء (of the) favors

ربكُما (of) your Lord

تُكذبان will you both deny?

So which of your Lord’s marvels will you deny

55:35 Juz 27 * Page 532

يُرۡسَلُ عَلَيۡكُمَا شُوَاظࣱ مِّن نَّارࣲ وَنُحَاسࣱ فَلَا تَنتَصِرَانِ 35

Yursalu 'alaikumaa shuwaazum min naarifiw-wa nuhaasun falaa tantasiraan

يُرْسلُ Will be sent

عليْكُما against both of you

شُواظ a flame

من of

نارٌ fire

ونُحاس and smoke,

فلا and not

تنتصران you will (be able to) defend yourselves.

You will be bombarded with flares of fire and brass, and you will not succeed

55:36 Juz 27 * Page 532

فَبِأَيِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ 36

Fabi ayyi aalaaa'i Rabbikumaa tukazzibaan

فبأى So which

ءالاء (of the) favors

ربكُما (of) your Lord

تُكذبان will you both deny?

So which of your Lord’s marvels will you deny

55:37 Juz 27 * Page 532

فَإِذَا ٱنشَقَّتِ ٱلسَّمَآءُ فَكَانَتۡ وَرۡدَةࣰ كَٱلدِّهَانِ 37

Fa-izan shaqqatis samaaa'u fakaanat wardatan kaddihaan

فإذا Then when

انشقت is split

السماءُ the heaven,

فكانتْ and it becomes

ورْدةً rose-colored

كالدهان like murky oil.

When the sky splits apart, and becomes rose, like paint

55:38 Juz 27 * Page 532

فَبِأَيِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ 38

Fabi ayyi aalaaa'i Rabbikumaa tukazzibaan

فبأى So which

ءالاء (of the) favors

ربكُما (of) your Lord

تُكذبان will you both deny?

So which of your Lord’s marvels will you deny

55:39 Juz 27 * Page 532

Inheritance

فَيَوۡمَئِذࣲ لَّا يُسۡـَٔلُ عَن ذَنۢبِهِۦٓ إِنسࣱ وَلَا جَآنࣱّ‏ 39

Fa-yawma'izil laa yus'alu 'an zambiheee insunw wa laa jaann

فيوْمئذٌ Then (on) that Day

لا not

يُسْـلُ will be asked

عن about

ذنبه his sin

إنس any man

ولا and not

جان any jinn.

On that Day, no human and no jinn will be asked about his sins

55:40 Juz 27 * Page 532

فَبِأَيِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ 40

Fabi ayyi aalaaa'i Rabbikumaa tukazzibaan

فبأى So which

ءالاء (of the) favors

ربكُما (of) your Lord

تُكذبان will you both deny?

So which of your Lord’s marvels will you deny

55:41 Juz 27 * Page 533

Inheritance

يُعۡرَفُ ٱلۡمُجۡرِمُونَ بِسِيمَٰهُمۡ فَيُؤۡخَذُ بِٱلنَّوَٰصِي وَٱلۡأَقۡدَامِ 41

Yu'raful mujrimoona biseemaahum fa'yu'khazu binna waasi wal aqdaam

يُعْرفُ Will be known

الْمُجْرمُون the criminals

بسيمهُمْ by their marks

فيُؤْخذُ and will be seized

بالنوصى by the forelocks

والْأقْدام and the feet.

The guilty will be recognized by their marks; they will be taken by the forelocks and the feet

55:42 Juz 27 * Page 533

فَبِأَيِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ 42

Fabi ayyi aalaaa'i Rabbikumaa tukazzibaan

فبأى So which

ءالاء (of the) favors

ربكُما (of) your Lord

تُكذبان will you both deny?

So which of your Lord’s marvels will you deny

55:43 Juz 27 * Page 533

هَٰذِهِۦ جَهَنَّمُ ٱلَّتِي يُكَذِّبُ بِهَا ٱلۡمُجۡرِمُونَ 43

Haazihee jahannamul latee yukazzibu bihal mujrimoon

هذه This

جهنمُ (is) Hell

التى which

يُكذبُ deny

بها [of it]

الْمُجْرمُون the criminals.

This is Hell that the guilty denied

55:44 Juz 27 * Page 533

يَطُوفُونَ بَيۡنَهَا وَبَيۡنَ حَمِيمٍ ءَانࣲ‏ 44

Yatoofoona bainahaa wa baina hameemim aan

يطُوفُون They will go around

بيْنها between it

وبيْن and between

حميمٌ scalding water,

ءانٌ heated.

They circulate between it and between a seething bath

55:45 Juz 27 * Page 533

فَبِأَيِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ 45

Fabi ayyi aalaaa'i Rabbikumaa tukazzibaan

فبأى So which

ءالاء (of the) favors

ربكُما (of) your Lord

تُكذبان will you both deny?

So which of your Lord’s marvels will you deny

Movement 3 * Verses 46–78 Section 3 of 3

The Twin Paradises for Those Who Revere Their Lord

Flowing springs, lush boughs, green carpets, and the refraining question of gratitude

55:46 Juz 27 * Page 533

Inheritance

وَلِمَنۡ خَافَ مَقَامَ رَبِّهِۦ جَنَّتَانِ 46

Wa liman khaafa maqaama rabbihee jannataan

ولمنْ But for (him) who

خاف fears

مقام (the) standing

ربه (before) his Lord

جنتان (are) two gardens.

But for him who feared the standing of his Lord are two gardens

55:47 Juz 27 * Page 533

فَبِأَيِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ 47

Fabi ayyi aalaaa'i Rabbikumaa tukazzibaan

فبأى So which

ءالاء (of the) favors

ربكُما (of) your Lord

تُكذبان will you both deny?

So which of your Lord’s marvels will you deny

55:48 Juz 27 * Page 533

ذَوَاتَآ أَفۡنَانࣲ‏ 48

Zawaataaa afnaan

ذواتا Having

أفْنانٌ branches.

Full of varieties

55:49 Juz 27 * Page 533

فَبِأَيِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ 49

Fabi ayyi aalaaa'i Rabbikumaa tukazzibaan

فبأى So which

ءالاء (of the) favors

ربكُما (of) your Lord

تُكذبان will you both deny?

So which of your Lord’s marvels will you deny

55:50 Juz 27 * Page 533

فِيهِمَا عَيۡنَانِ تَجۡرِيَانِ 50

Feehimaa 'aynaani tajriyaan

فيهما In both of them

عيْنان (are) two springs,

تجْريان flowing.

In them are two flowing springs

55:51 Juz 27 * Page 533

فَبِأَيِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ 51

Fabi ayyi aalaaa'i Rabbikumaa tukazzibaan

فبأى So which

ءالاء (of the) favors

ربكُما (of) your Lord

تُكذبان will you both deny?

So which of your Lord’s marvels will you deny

55:52 Juz 27 * Page 533

فِيهِمَا مِن كُلِّ فَٰكِهَةࣲ زَوۡجَانِ 52

Feehimaa min kulli faakihatin zawjaan

فيهما In both of them

من [of]

كُل (are) every

فكهةٌ fruits

زوْجان (in) pairs.

In them are fruits of every kind, in pairs

55:53 Juz 27 * Page 533

فَبِأَيِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ 53

Fabi ayyi aalaaa'i Rabbikumaa tukazzibaan

فبأى So which

ءالاء (of the) favors

ربكُما (of) your Lord

تُكذبان will you both deny?

So which of your Lord’s marvels will you deny

55:54 Juz 27 * Page 533

مُتَّكِـِٔينَ عَلَىٰ فُرُشِۭ بَطَآئِنُهَا مِنۡ إِسۡتَبۡرَقࣲۚ وَجَنَى ٱلۡجَنَّتَيۡنِ دَانࣲ‏ 54

Muttaki'eena 'alaa furushim bataaa'inuhaa min istabraq; wajanal jannataini daan

مُتكـين Reclining

على on

فُرُشٌ couches,

بطائنُها (whose) inner linings

منْ (are) of

إسْتبْرقٌ brocade,

وجنى and (the) fruit

الْجنتيْن (of) both the gardens

دانٌ (is) near.

Reclining on furnishings lined with brocade, and the fruits of the two gardens are near at hand

55:55 Juz 27 * Page 533

فَبِأَيِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ 55

Fabi ayyi aalaaa'i Rabbikumaa tukazzibaan

فبأى So which

ءالاء (of the) favors

ربكُما (of) your Lord

تُكذبان will you both deny?

So which of your Lord’s marvels will you deny

55:56 Juz 27 * Page 533

Inheritance

فِيهِنَّ قَٰصِرَٰتُ ٱلطَّرۡفِ لَمۡ يَطۡمِثۡهُنَّ إِنسࣱ قَبۡلَهُمۡ وَلَا جَآنࣱّ‏ 56

Feehinna qaasiratut tarfi lam yatmishunna insun qablahum wa laa jaaann

فيهن In them

قصرتُ (will be) companions of modest gaze

الطرْف (will be) companions of modest gaze

لمْ not

يطْمثْهُن has touched them

إنس any man

قبْلهُمْ before them

ولا and not

جان any jinn.

In them are maidens restraining their glances, untouched before by any man or jinn

55:57 Juz 27 * Page 533

فَبِأَيِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ 57

Fabi ayyi aalaaa'i Rabbikumaa tukazzibaan

فبأى So which

ءالاء (of the) favors

ربكُما (of) your Lord

تُكذبان will you both deny?

So which of your Lord’s marvels will you deny

55:58 Juz 27 * Page 533

كَأَنَّهُنَّ ٱلۡيَاقُوتُ وَٱلۡمَرۡجَانُ 58

ka annahunnal yaaqootu wal marjaan

كأنهُن As if they were

الْياقُوتُ rubies

والْمرْجانُ and coral.

As though they were rubies and corals

55:59 Juz 27 * Page 533

فَبِأَيِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ 59

Fabi ayyi aalaaa'i Rabbikumaa tukazzibaan

فبأى So which

ءالاء (of the) favors

ربكُما (of) your Lord

تُكذبان will you both deny?

So which of your Lord’s marvels will you deny

55:60 Juz 27 * Page 533

Warfare & Treaty

هَلۡ جَزَآءُ ٱلۡإِحۡسَٰنِ إِلَّا ٱلۡإِحۡسَٰنُ 60

Hal jazaaa'ul ihsaani illal ihsaan

هلْ Is

جزاءُ (the) reward

الْإحْسن for the good

إلا but

الْإحْسنُ good?

Is the reward of goodness anything but goodness

55:61 Juz 27 * Page 533

فَبِأَيِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ 61

Fabi ayyi aalaaa'i Rabbikumaa tukazzibaan

فبأى So which

ءالاء (of the) favors

ربكُما (of) your Lord

تُكذبان will you both deny?

So which of your Lord’s marvels will you deny

55:62 Juz 27 * Page 533

وَمِن دُونِهِمَا جَنَّتَانِ 62

Wa min doonihimaa jannataan

ومن Besides these two

دُونهما Besides these two

جنتان (are) two gardens.

And beneath them are two gardens

55:63 Juz 27 * Page 533

فَبِأَيِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ 63

Fabi ayyi aalaaa'i Rabbikumaa tukazzibaan

فبأى So which

ءالاء (of the) favors

ربكُما (of) your Lord

تُكذبان will you both deny?

So which of your Lord’s marvels will you deny

مُدۡهَآمَّتَانِ 64

Mudhaaammataan

مُدْهامتان Dark green.

Deep green

55:65 Juz 27 * Page 533

فَبِأَيِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ 65

Fabi ayyi aalaaa'i Rabbikumaa tukazzibaan

فبأى So which

ءالاء (of the) favors

ربكُما (of) your Lord

تُكذبان will you both deny?

So which of your Lord’s marvels will you deny

55:66 Juz 27 * Page 533

فِيهِمَا عَيۡنَانِ نَضَّاخَتَانِ 66

Feehimaa 'aynaani nad daakhataan

فيهما In both of them

عيْنان (are) two springs,

نضاختان gushing forth.

In them are two gushing springs

55:67 Juz 27 * Page 533

فَبِأَيِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ 67

Fabi ayyi aalaaa'i Rabbikumaa tukazzibaan

فبأى So which

ءالاء (of the) favors

ربكُما (of) your Lord

تُكذبان will you both deny?

So which of your Lord’s marvels will you deny

55:68 Juz 27 * Page 534

فِيهِمَا فَٰكِهَةࣱ وَنَخۡلࣱ وَرُمَّانࣱ‏ 68

Feehimaa faakihatunw wa nakhlunw wa rummaan

فيهما In both of them

فكهة (are) fruits

ونخْل and date-palms

ورُمان and pomegranates.

In them are fruits, and date-palms, and pomegranates

فَبِأَيِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ 69

Fabi ayyi aalaaa'i Rabbikumaa tukazzibaan

فبأى So which

ءالاء (of the) favors

ربكُما (of) your Lord

So which of your Lord’s marvels will you deny

فِيهِنَّ خَيۡرَٰتٌ حِسَانࣱ‏ 70

Feehinna khairaatun hisaan

فيهن In them

خيْرت (are) good

حسان and beautiful ones.

In them are good and beautiful ones

فَبِأَيِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ 71

Fabi ayyi aalaaa'i Rabbikumaa tukazzibaan

فبأى So which

ءالاء (of the) favors

حُورࣱ مَّقۡصُورَٰتࣱ فِي ٱلۡخِيَامِ 72

Hoorum maqsooraatun fil khiyaam

حُور Fair ones

مقْصُورت restrained

فى in

الْخيام the pavilions.

Companions, secluded in the tents

55:73 Juz 27 * Page 534

فَبِأَيِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ 73

Fabi ayyi aalaaa'i Rabbikumaa tukazzibaan

فبأى So which

ءالاء (of the) favors

ربكُما (of) your Lord

تُكذبان will you both deny?

So which of your Lord’s marvels will you deny

55:74 Juz 27 * Page 534

لَمۡ يَطۡمِثۡهُنَّ إِنسࣱ قَبۡلَهُمۡ وَلَا جَآنࣱّ‏ 74

Lam yatmis hunna insun qablahum wa laa jaaann

لمْ Not

يطْمثْهُن has touched them

إنس any man

قبْلهُمْ before them

ولا and not

جان any jinn.

Whom no human has touched before, nor jinn

55:75 Juz 27 * Page 534

فَبِأَيِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ 75

Fabi ayyi aalaaa'i Rabbikumaa tukazzibaan

فبأى So which

ءالاء (of the) favors

ربكُما (of) your Lord

تُكذبان will you both deny?

So which of your Lord’s marvels will you deny

مُتَّكِـِٔينَ عَلَىٰ رَفۡرَفٍ خُضۡرࣲ وَعَبۡقَرِيٍّ حِسَانࣲ‏ 76

Muttaki'eena 'alaa rafratin khudrinw wa 'abqariyyin hisaan

مُتكـين Reclining

على on

رفْرفٌ cushions

خُضْرٌ green,

وعبْقرىٌ and carpets

حسانٌ beautiful.

فَبِأَيِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ 77

Fabi ayyi aalaaa'i Rabbikumaa tukazzibaan

فبأى So which

ءالاء (of the) favors

ربكُما (of) your Lord

تَبَٰرَكَ ٱسۡمُ رَبِّكَ ذِي ٱلۡجَلَٰلِ وَٱلۡإِكۡرَامِ 78

Tabaarakasmu Rabbika Zil-Jalaali wal-Ikraam

تبرك Blessed is

اسْمُ (the) name

ربك (of) your Lord,

ذى Owner

الْجلل (of) Majesty

والْإكْرام and Honor.

Blessed be the name of your Lord, Full of Majesty and Splendor

Movement-Structured Continuous Book Flow

1 The Creation of the Cosmos & The Scales of Justice (Verses 1–25) The sun and moon in orbit, the celestial balance, pearls, corals, and ships on the sea

The Compassionate^[1] Has taught the Quran^[2] He created man^[3] And taught him clear expression^[4] The sun and the moon move according to plan^[5] And the stars and the trees prostrate themselves^[6] And the sky, He raised; and He set up the balance^[7] So do not transgress in the balance^[8] But maintain the weights with justice, and do not violate the balance^[9] And the earth; He set up for the creatures^[10] In it are fruits, and palms in clusters^[11] And grains in the blades, and fragrant plants^[12] So which of your Lord’s marvels will you deny^[13] He created man from hard clay, like bricks^[14] And created the jinn from a fusion of fire^[15] So which of your Lord’s marvels will you deny^[16] Lord of the two Easts and Lord of the two Wests^[17] So which of your Lord’s marvels will you deny^[18] He merged the two seas, converging together^[19] Between them is a barrier, which they do not overrun^[20] So which of your Lord’s marvels will you deny^[21] From them emerge pearls and coral^[22] So which of your Lord’s marvels will you deny^[23] His are the ships, raised above the sea like landmarks^[24] So which of your Lord’s marvels will you deny^[25]

2 The Inevitable Mortality of All Created Things (Verses 26–45) All on earth will perish, but the Countenance of your Lord remains in Majesty and Honor

Everyone upon it is perishing^[26] But will remain the Presence of your Lord, Full of Majesty and Splendor^[27] So which of your Lord’s marvels will you deny^[28] Everyone in the heavens and the earth asks Him. Every day He is managing^[29] So which of your Lord’s marvels will you deny^[30] We will attend to you, O prominent two^[31] So which of your Lord’s marvels will you deny^[32] O society of jinn and humans! If you can pass through the bounds of the heavens and the earth, go ahead and pass. But you will not pass except with authorization^[33] So which of your Lord’s marvels will you deny^[34] You will be bombarded with flares of fire and brass, and you will not succeed^[35] So which of your Lord’s marvels will you deny^[36] When the sky splits apart, and becomes rose, like paint^[37] So which of your Lord’s marvels will you deny^[38] On that Day, no human and no jinn will be asked about his sins^[39] So which of your Lord’s marvels will you deny^[40] The guilty will be recognized by their marks; they will be taken by the forelocks and the feet^[41] So which of your Lord’s marvels will you deny^[42] This is Hell that the guilty denied^[43] They circulate between it and between a seething bath^[44] So which of your Lord’s marvels will you deny^[45]

3 The Twin Paradises for Those Who Revere Their Lord (Verses 46–78) Flowing springs, lush boughs, green carpets, and the refraining question of gratitude

But for him who feared the standing of his Lord are two gardens^[46] So which of your Lord’s marvels will you deny^[47] Full of varieties^[48] So which of your Lord’s marvels will you deny^[49] In them are two flowing springs^[50] So which of your Lord’s marvels will you deny^[51] In them are fruits of every kind, in pairs^[52] So which of your Lord’s marvels will you deny^[53] Reclining on furnishings lined with brocade, and the fruits of the two gardens are near at hand^[54] So which of your Lord’s marvels will you deny^[55] In them are maidens restraining their glances, untouched before by any man or jinn^[56] So which of your Lord’s marvels will you deny^[57] As though they were rubies and corals^[58] So which of your Lord’s marvels will you deny^[59] Is the reward of goodness anything but goodness^[60] So which of your Lord’s marvels will you deny^[61] And beneath them are two gardens^[62] So which of your Lord’s marvels will you deny^[63] Deep green^[64] So which of your Lord’s marvels will you deny^[65] In them are two gushing springs^[66] So which of your Lord’s marvels will you deny^[67] In them are fruits, and date-palms, and pomegranates^[68] So which of your Lord’s marvels will you deny^[69] In them are good and beautiful ones^[70] So which of your Lord’s marvels will you deny^[71] Companions, secluded in the tents^[72] So which of your Lord’s marvels will you deny^[73] Whom no human has touched before, nor jinn^[74] So which of your Lord’s marvels will you deny^[75] Reclining on green cushions, and exquisite carpets^[76] So which of your Lord’s marvels will you deny^[77] Blessed be the name of your Lord, Full of Majesty and Splendor^[78]

ٱلرَّحۡمَٰنُ (1)

The Compassionate

عَلَّمَ ٱلۡقُرۡءَانَ (2)

Has taught the Quran

خَلَقَ ٱلۡإِنسَٰنَ (3)

He created man

عَلَّمَهُ ٱلۡبَيَانَ (4)

And taught him clear expression

ٱلشَّمۡسُ وَٱلۡقَمَرُ بِحُسۡبَانࣲ‏ (5)

The sun and the moon move according to plan

وَٱلنَّجۡمُ وَٱلشَّجَرُ يَسۡجُدَانِ (6)

And the stars and the trees prostrate themselves

وَٱلسَّمَآءَ رَفَعَهَا وَوَضَعَ ٱلۡمِيزَانَ (7)

And the sky, He raised; and He set up the balance

أَلَّا تَطۡغَوۡاْ فِي ٱلۡمِيزَانِ (8)

So do not transgress in the balance

وَأَقِيمُواْ ٱلۡوَزۡنَ بِٱلۡقِسۡطِ وَلَا تُخۡسِرُواْ ٱلۡمِيزَانَ (9)

But maintain the weights with justice, and do not violate the balance

وَٱلۡأَرۡضَ وَضَعَهَا لِلۡأَنَامِ (10)

And the earth; He set up for the creatures

فِيهَا فَٰكِهَةࣱ وَٱلنَّخۡلُ ذَاتُ ٱلۡأَكۡمَامِ (11)

In it are fruits, and palms in clusters

وَٱلۡحَبُّ ذُو ٱلۡعَصۡفِ وَٱلرَّيۡحَانُ (12)

And grains in the blades, and fragrant plants

فَبِأَيِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ (13)

So which of your Lord’s marvels will you deny

خَلَقَ ٱلۡإِنسَٰنَ مِن صَلۡصَٰلࣲ كَٱلۡفَخَّارِ (14)

He created man from hard clay, like bricks

وَخَلَقَ ٱلۡجَآنَّ مِن مَّارِجࣲ مِّن نَّارࣲ‏ (15)

And created the jinn from a fusion of fire

فَبِأَيِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ (16)

So which of your Lord’s marvels will you deny

رَبُّ ٱلۡمَشۡرِقَيۡنِ وَرَبُّ ٱلۡمَغۡرِبَيۡنِ (17)

Lord of the two Easts and Lord of the two Wests

فَبِأَيِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ (18)

So which of your Lord’s marvels will you deny

مَرَجَ ٱلۡبَحۡرَيۡنِ يَلۡتَقِيَانِ (19)

He merged the two seas, converging together

بَيۡنَهُمَا بَرۡزَخࣱ لَّا يَبۡغِيَانِ (20)

Between them is a barrier, which they do not overrun

فَبِأَيِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ (21)

So which of your Lord’s marvels will you deny

يَخۡرُجُ مِنۡهُمَا ٱللُّؤۡلُؤُ وَٱلۡمَرۡجَانُ (22)

From them emerge pearls and coral

فَبِأَيِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ (23)

So which of your Lord’s marvels will you deny

وَلَهُ ٱلۡجَوَارِ ٱلۡمُنشَـَٔاتُ فِي ٱلۡبَحۡرِ كَٱلۡأَعۡلَٰمِ (24)

His are the ships, raised above the sea like landmarks

فَبِأَيِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ (25)

So which of your Lord’s marvels will you deny

كُلُّ مَنۡ عَلَيۡهَا فَانࣲ‏ (26)

Everyone upon it is perishing

وَيَبۡقَىٰ وَجۡهُ رَبِّكَ ذُو ٱلۡجَلَٰلِ وَٱلۡإِكۡرَامِ (27)

But will remain the Presence of your Lord, Full of Majesty and Splendor

فَبِأَيِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ (28)

So which of your Lord’s marvels will you deny

يَسۡـَٔلُهُۥ مَن فِي ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَٱلۡأَرۡضِۚ كُلَّ يَوۡمٍ هُوَ فِي شَأۡنࣲ‏ (29)

Everyone in the heavens and the earth asks Him. Every day He is managing

فَبِأَيِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ (30)

So which of your Lord’s marvels will you deny

سَنَفۡرُغُ لَكُمۡ أَيُّهَ ٱلثَّقَلَانِ (31)

We will attend to you, O prominent two

فَبِأَيِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ (32)

So which of your Lord’s marvels will you deny

يَٰمَعۡشَرَ ٱلۡجِنِّ وَٱلۡإِنسِ إِنِ ٱسۡتَطَعۡتُمۡ أَن تَنفُذُواْ مِنۡ أَقۡطَارِ ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَٱلۡأَرۡضِ فَٱنفُذُواْۚ لَا تَنفُذُونَ إِلَّا بِسُلۡطَٰنࣲ‏ (33)

O society of jinn and humans! If you can pass through the bounds of the heavens and the earth, go ahead and pass. But you will not pass except with authorization

فَبِأَيِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ (34)

So which of your Lord’s marvels will you deny

يُرۡسَلُ عَلَيۡكُمَا شُوَاظࣱ مِّن نَّارࣲ وَنُحَاسࣱ فَلَا تَنتَصِرَانِ (35)

You will be bombarded with flares of fire and brass, and you will not succeed

فَبِأَيِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ (36)

So which of your Lord’s marvels will you deny

فَإِذَا ٱنشَقَّتِ ٱلسَّمَآءُ فَكَانَتۡ وَرۡدَةࣰ كَٱلدِّهَانِ (37)

When the sky splits apart, and becomes rose, like paint

فَبِأَيِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ (38)

So which of your Lord’s marvels will you deny

فَيَوۡمَئِذࣲ لَّا يُسۡـَٔلُ عَن ذَنۢبِهِۦٓ إِنسࣱ وَلَا جَآنࣱّ‏ (39)

On that Day, no human and no jinn will be asked about his sins

فَبِأَيِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ (40)

So which of your Lord’s marvels will you deny

يُعۡرَفُ ٱلۡمُجۡرِمُونَ بِسِيمَٰهُمۡ فَيُؤۡخَذُ بِٱلنَّوَٰصِي وَٱلۡأَقۡدَامِ (41)

The guilty will be recognized by their marks; they will be taken by the forelocks and the feet

فَبِأَيِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ (42)

So which of your Lord’s marvels will you deny

هَٰذِهِۦ جَهَنَّمُ ٱلَّتِي يُكَذِّبُ بِهَا ٱلۡمُجۡرِمُونَ (43)

This is Hell that the guilty denied

يَطُوفُونَ بَيۡنَهَا وَبَيۡنَ حَمِيمٍ ءَانࣲ‏ (44)

They circulate between it and between a seething bath

فَبِأَيِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ (45)

So which of your Lord’s marvels will you deny

وَلِمَنۡ خَافَ مَقَامَ رَبِّهِۦ جَنَّتَانِ (46)

But for him who feared the standing of his Lord are two gardens

فَبِأَيِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ (47)

So which of your Lord’s marvels will you deny

ذَوَاتَآ أَفۡنَانࣲ‏ (48)

Full of varieties

فَبِأَيِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ (49)

So which of your Lord’s marvels will you deny

فِيهِمَا عَيۡنَانِ تَجۡرِيَانِ (50)

In them are two flowing springs

فَبِأَيِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ (51)

So which of your Lord’s marvels will you deny

فِيهِمَا مِن كُلِّ فَٰكِهَةࣲ زَوۡجَانِ (52)

In them are fruits of every kind, in pairs

فَبِأَيِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ (53)

So which of your Lord’s marvels will you deny

مُتَّكِـِٔينَ عَلَىٰ فُرُشِۭ بَطَآئِنُهَا مِنۡ إِسۡتَبۡرَقࣲۚ وَجَنَى ٱلۡجَنَّتَيۡنِ دَانࣲ‏ (54)

Reclining on furnishings lined with brocade, and the fruits of the two gardens are near at hand

فَبِأَيِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ (55)

So which of your Lord’s marvels will you deny

فِيهِنَّ قَٰصِرَٰتُ ٱلطَّرۡفِ لَمۡ يَطۡمِثۡهُنَّ إِنسࣱ قَبۡلَهُمۡ وَلَا جَآنࣱّ‏ (56)

In them are maidens restraining their glances, untouched before by any man or jinn

فَبِأَيِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ (57)

So which of your Lord’s marvels will you deny

كَأَنَّهُنَّ ٱلۡيَاقُوتُ وَٱلۡمَرۡجَانُ (58)

As though they were rubies and corals

فَبِأَيِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ (59)

So which of your Lord’s marvels will you deny

هَلۡ جَزَآءُ ٱلۡإِحۡسَٰنِ إِلَّا ٱلۡإِحۡسَٰنُ (60)

Is the reward of goodness anything but goodness

فَبِأَيِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ (61)

So which of your Lord’s marvels will you deny

وَمِن دُونِهِمَا جَنَّتَانِ (62)

And beneath them are two gardens

فَبِأَيِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ (63)

So which of your Lord’s marvels will you deny

مُدۡهَآمَّتَانِ (64)

Deep green

فَبِأَيِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ (65)

So which of your Lord’s marvels will you deny

فِيهِمَا عَيۡنَانِ نَضَّاخَتَانِ (66)

In them are two gushing springs

فَبِأَيِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ (67)

So which of your Lord’s marvels will you deny

فِيهِمَا فَٰكِهَةࣱ وَنَخۡلࣱ وَرُمَّانࣱ‏ (68)

In them are fruits, and date-palms, and pomegranates

فَبِأَيِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ (69)

So which of your Lord’s marvels will you deny

فِيهِنَّ خَيۡرَٰتٌ حِسَانࣱ‏ (70)

In them are good and beautiful ones

فَبِأَيِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ (71)

So which of your Lord’s marvels will you deny

حُورࣱ مَّقۡصُورَٰتࣱ فِي ٱلۡخِيَامِ (72)

Companions, secluded in the tents

فَبِأَيِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ (73)

So which of your Lord’s marvels will you deny

لَمۡ يَطۡمِثۡهُنَّ إِنسࣱ قَبۡلَهُمۡ وَلَا جَآنࣱّ‏ (74)

Whom no human has touched before, nor jinn

فَبِأَيِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ (75)

So which of your Lord’s marvels will you deny

مُتَّكِـِٔينَ عَلَىٰ رَفۡرَفٍ خُضۡرࣲ وَعَبۡقَرِيٍّ حِسَانࣲ‏ (76)

Reclining on green cushions, and exquisite carpets

فَبِأَيِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ (77)

So which of your Lord’s marvels will you deny

تَبَٰرَكَ ٱسۡمُ رَبِّكَ ذِي ٱلۡجَلَٰلِ وَٱلۡإِكۡرَامِ (78)

Blessed be the name of your Lord, Full of Majesty and Splendor
